But all my life—so far— I have loved best how the flowers rise and open, how the pink lungs of their bodies enter the fire of the world and stand there shining and willing . . .
(From House of Light, by Mary Oliver)
There’s a common phenomenon that happens during nature’s quick transition into spring. Many people note how different they feel during those transitional days where the sun is suddenly shining and everything feels more alive. After so many dark and cold days, it can be easy to lose touch with ourselves. It’s hard to fathom that a good dose of sun and warm, fresh air can make us feel like a completely different person.
Spring is a time of rebirth, in every sense of the word. We see rebirth happening all around us as the leaves regrow on the trees, baby birds chirp overhead, and the flowers bloom as the ground becomes completely alive. Newness surrounds us as we smell new scents and feel a new sense of warmth that has been missing for what feels like ages. It should come as no surprise that our bodies also reawaken and rebirth because, ultimately, we are a part of nature too.
Skin Renewal
There are many ways to make the most out of the renewed sense of self that spring offers. There’s no better time to remove blockages and old patterns that no longer serve us. Like the flowers in Mary Oliver’s poem, spring is the time for us to stand within the fire of the world, shining and willing.
While the weather is turning pleasant and breezy in spring and flowers bloom beautiful and fragrant your skin also undergoes a lot of changes depending upon the seasons. For instance, those with acne-prone or oily skin can find it difficult to cope in summer as the skin becomes greasy often and ugly breakouts occur. On the other hand, if your skin is dry, it can become excessively dehydrated when the mercury drops low. While you can’t do anything about seasonal shifts, you can certainly take good care of your skin.
